Possible Events for
2010 - 2011
October: We'll be creating an Assembly for GLBT History Month 2010. "GLBT" stands for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender. You can find out more about GLBT History Month 2009 at their website. What would make this a great Assembly? We need your ideas!
November: We'll be sponsoring activities for the Day of Service on Wednesday, November 24. One of these may be viewing and discussing a documentary called "Straight Laced" about how students feel about gender roles in our society. One might be emailing your state legislators urging their support of legislation that promotes equality for GLBT citizens. Another might be volunteering off campus at the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Baltimore. What would you like to do on the Day of Service?
January: For Exploratory Learning Week, we'd like to offer a course that allows students to examine how gender roles work in our society and in our school. We want student input on what this course will look like and what it will accomplish...maybe you'd even like to be a student leader?
March: The Teach-In for Peace and Justice brings in speakers who share their experiences from a variety of diverse backgrounds and perspectives, including the GLBT experience.
April: The National Day of Silence is April 15, 2011. Park Middle School has participated in this important event for many years, and we need student leadership to make it happen again!
